Have you ever labeled yourself as a certain stereotype only to find out one day about how WRONG you were? This is currently happening to me and my family can’t even believe my comments about how “in love with my puppy”…I am!!! 😂
It all started a couple of months after being alone with my husband in this new country. As many of you know, we got married and literally the next morning flew off to our new home… so a few months in.. it’s great but can sometimes get a bit lonely. I found myself one morning just wandering around pet stores and checking out safe sellers online. My husband would ask “so… are you serious about this puppy thing or is it a phase”.. it got me thinking.
I concluded that because of my life situation, being married and wanting to be a mom so bad, ideas started getting into my head about “taking care of someone”.. Then he would answer “well, you can take care of me!” Ha ha. no!! I wanted something little and cute! and since we’re not planning on having babies yet…i thought, well.. why not!? Lets just go SEE the puppies..….. aha.
That next morning we set up a meeting in a really deserted place which you could only reach by train…… and since it was a Saturday, trains passed every 4 hours.. and guess what!? We got off at the wrong station and had to wait under the sun for 4 more hours. Hahaha. We were so excited that we did not mind at all – and it was then when we realised how much we really wanted this puppy.
When we finally arrived there were 4 baby mini Yorkies. 3 crazy guys and a calm shy one in the corner. That one was ours. We waited the next 4 hours happily at the station just staring at him, naming him Simba and ever since – I am officially a dog lover! who knew?
Update: It’s officially Simba’s 1 year anniversary and you know how we bought him and the seller said he was a mini yorkie? Well, I don’t know if that was a marketing stunt or if she just got the info wrong. Month by month my husband and I would look at each other and laugh about how huge he was getting…. fast! First 2 months he was the size of a shoe and when he reached 6 he was already 4 times his size. We don’t really mind but if you are looking for a mini yorkie make sure you see the puppies parents before buying – or you could get a surprise size like we did! 😂
