Healthy oatmeal obsession

What’s the best part of your weekend? I swear that mine is waking up Saturday morning, playing country music in the kitchen, and preparing my favorite oatmeal – i don’t think it can get any better!

This has been my latest breakfast for the past 4 months, and if you know me well, you know that i can be a bit obsessive when i like a recipe. I literally will not change my protein oatmeal for ANYTHING! Seriously, even when i make my husband pancakes, i wont even try them because im so happy with my oatmeal. You guys have to try it! Best part is, not only is it super sweet but its 100% healthy.

Over the past months I have really struggled with food habits, because I either starve a few weeks trying to lose some extra fat or I eat way too much trying to make up for all those weeks of hunger. That is definitely not balance! This oatmeal has changed my eating habits and although that sounds exaggerated I promise you it’s not! I had heard a million times how eating in a balanced way could solve many food binges however I never really paid attention to it or considered it a solution for my own life.

I used to think that eating less was better, and since this is not realistic or sustainable for the long run, after a few hours of hunger during the morning I would eat ANYTHING in my way during the afternoon. With this oatmeal, I not only look forward to it because of how delicious it tastes, but it leaves me super satisfied until lunch and have noticed how it definitely eliminates the afternoon snack cravings. Il be telling you more about how I snack in order to keep my hunger satisfied “just enough” to be able to lose fat but not go crazy for burgers and pizza at 11pm haha!. For now, I can tell you that if you are looking for a healthy breakfast to boost your diet or simply a delicious new option, this is it!

**This recipe can be made with regular oat flakes, but I like making my own mix with a few other superfoods (it reduces the carb percentage and increases fiber and fat). The recipe I use for the oat mix is:
500g of oatmeal
50g of fiber
16 grams of linseeds
30 grams of chia
I mix this all up into a jar and use 50g servings per breakfast.

 

Ingredients:
1/2 cup (I measure 50 grams) of oat flakes**
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
(add water until texture becomes mushy and put in fridge while you make kids or hubby’s breakfast, the chia will expand)!!
When the water has absorbed (10-15min): Cut fruits and mix it all up…… my favorites are apples, strawberries, and blueberries! Add banana if you like it extra sweet 🙂
