How I became a blogger

You know that question we all get, when people ask us if we could be anything in the world, what would we be?

My answer has always been a blogger. Ever since middle school I would find myself on sites like Tumblr, trying to create my own webpage, and basically creating a space where I was free to write about anything that I wanted.

That’s the second thing, i’m not the best person when it comes to expressing through speech what is going through my mind.

I don’t know if it’s a concentration thing, or simply that I can’t put into words quickly enough what is going through my head, but the best way that I’ve found to correctly express myself over the years has always been through writing. Whether it was a birthday card, a letter asking for permission from my parents, or simply a note to clear my thoughts on a certain subject that has been consuming my thoughts, writing has always been my solution.

Of course, college career days came by and I couldn’t exactly plan on becoming a “famous” blogger that could make a living out of it. Also, back in Costa Rica, universities are a bit more traditional and the journalism career, which was as close as I could get, wasn’t exactly based on the digital subjects I was interested in – so I went with business marketing. Luckily, today I can apply some of that knowledge into blogging, but continuing through a clear career path has always been hard for me. Specially when it comes to monetization.

I’ve always heard that the best thing you can do when you are pursuing a project that isn’t exactly easy to monetize, is getting a job to depend on economically, while you continue to grow your passion, so that’s exactly what I did. While working on this blog, I also applied for content writing and social media managing jobs, and to be honest, I could not be happier. Not only have I learned skills that help with blogging through these job opportunities, but I’ve managed to still work in the niche of writing that I love and have time for my personal blog as well.

What have been my challenges?

There have been a million of those. Everything sounds simple when it has been done, but it has not been easy to clearly plan a path. Everything from deciding what I want to do as a career, to looking for a job, to deciding what to write about has been a challenge. Unlike before, I know now this is the niche I love and everything involving online arts such as photography, Photoshop, SEO and social media is something that i’m IN on learning about. Today, I couldn’t be happier to be pursuing what I love, but I definitely still have space to grow and things I want to specialize on. And to finish this journey post, I want to thank you, for reading this, because the comments I receive and reader mails keep me totally motivated to continue along this path!

I’m 26, born and raised in Costa Rica. When I was 19, I met the love of my life and we decided 2 weeks later that we wanted to get married. I finished college  and we decided to leave our country and move to Spain in order to start our new family life
