Married at 22, how did that happen? – TANIA VILLALTA

LIFESTYLE BLOG

Married at 22, how did that happen?

So i’m pretty sure most of you must be thinking what everyone asks me as soon as they meet me… 22 and already married?

How did that happen?! The answer is yes, happily married, and no, we did not get married just to be able to live in Spain together like most people think!  Actually, thinking back today, we both agree on the fact that we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into when we decided to get married, except that of course, we were in sure that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together! (haha!)

So how did it happen? My husband and I have pretty intense and emotional personalities so we love following our gut feelings most of the time. I was 19 and he was 29, and neither of us was really looking for a relationship. We had a crazy staring contest at a party (I’ll explain more about that in another post) and the next day, he actually facebooked me and messaged to introduce himself. I was pretty uninterested in the whole dating scene because I had just come out of a bad relationship, but he was so sweet (and I have to admit, after facebook stalking him – thought he was really handsome!) that we went on out first date the next morning.

Our date lasted the whole day because we kept inventing activities and excuses to stay together. Anyone who saw us at the end of this day would have thought we had been together for years. We followed no “dating rules” and felt really at ease with each other. We actually got along so well that I remember we even commented on how right it felt, and even talked about getting married on that first date….. (I told you we were intense!!) It just felt right.

So even though we spoke about it, we still had to get to know each other. We had been dating for 1 month, saw each other every single day and as corny as it sounds, I swear there was a feeling of “when you know, you know.” Of course that my 19-year-old self back then didn’t even realize how serious the issue was, but somewhere, in the back of my mind, i had a great feeling about him and nothing had ever clicked as well as our relationship had. So, another month later I said yes with no doubt in my mind and after 2 long years of wedding planning and finishing up college, we got married on December 2016 🙂

Somewhere along our relationship I discovered he had double nationality and we decided to move to Spain after the wedding to start our family in a more developed country than Costa Rica. And here we are! Now you know a bit of my young marriage 🙂 Oh, and somewhere along that first year of marriage we decided to get a puppy (because we’re both excited to be parents but know it’s not just time for a real baby yet haha!) So, as part of my family you should meet Simba as well. Our baby yorky and the most protective doggy ever. You’ll probably see a bit of him on the blog.

I’m 26, born and raised in Costa Rica. When I was 19, I met the love of my life and we decided 2 weeks later that we wanted to get married. I finished college  and we decided to leave our country and move to Spain in order to start our new family life
