Best pizza in Spain – down to 2 options! – TANIA VILLALTA

Best pizza in Spain – down to 2 options!

OK so my if my husband and I can give ourselves a foodie title it’s definitely being the biggest pizza lovers out there.

Now that I come to think about it, every single time we’ve visited a new country, we’ve just ended up eating pizza at a certain point and i’m telling you that nothing ever comes close to the 2 places i’m about to recommend.

We have been through them all. The chewy,  the flat, the thick crust, the fancy restaurant, the street style – everything! Almost 2 years later of pizza tryout (and a lot of cardio to burn it off!!) we are down to 2 places that we want to share.

1. Dues Sicilies – the casual option and sale by slice

If you are ever in Barcelona feeling hungry and in the mood for some good old pizza, don’t ever miss the opportunity to visit a place called Dues Siciles. I’m telling you, it’s unreal. Don’t get fooled by those huge banners and popular food chains, this is THE best one out there if you’re looking for casual, take out or even just a slice of specific flavor to keep walking through the gothic streets. Promise this isn’t a sponsored post by them (haha I wish!!).

2. O Principe Tratoria – the best “sit down” or date night option (My all time fave: 4 cheese with ricotta filled crust!)

huge pizza

Have you ever sat down in a fancy restaurant, been excited about the whole Italian inspired atmosphere, and then when the pizza arrives you just get something that looks like the supermarket – bought pizza? This frustrates me so much.

I get it, pizza is delicious, even the supermarket 2 euro pizza is good but if I’m paying 5x the price, I would expect to receive real Italian wood fired oven pizza… is that too much to ask??

Needless to say, we have tried many of these disappointing spots but one special day, we sat down at O Principe Trattoria not expecting much, and BOOM!  We ordered a ricotta cheese crust flavored pizza and finally we got something worth the wait. Real, Italian oven made pizza in Barcelona, you’ve got to try it.

I personally hate a crust that’s either too thin or too “floury” so both these places just get it down perfectly. Let me know if you ever do get a chance to try them out and if you’re in the area, and have tried something better than these please DO let me know so I can check it out….. 🧐

I’m 26, born and raised in Costa Rica. When I was 19, I met the love of my life and we decided 2 weeks later that we wanted to get married. I finished college  and we decided to leave our country and move to Spain in order to start our new family life
